Tony Iatridis Bio & Contact
After graduating with honors from Pratt Institute in 1983, I began working freelance as an illustrator and a graphic artist. My artwork has been published by the likes of The National Audubon Society, Penthouse, Governing, Utah Lawyer, Viacom, Millimeter, Contract, Bank Systems and Management, The Chicago Bar Assn., Richard Simmons & Friends, and many others.
I worked for several printers including Pandick, Inc, where I became thoroughly versed in prepress. I landed my first Art Direction with Cableview, a publisher of Cable Industry Magazines.
From there I moved to Hachette Filipacchi Media, USA, where I was the Art Director of the Special Marketing Division for over 19 years. During my tenure at Hachette I worked on titles such as Elle, Elle Decor, Met Home, Woman’s Day, Car and Driver, Road & Track, Boating, and Sound and Vision. This work involved advertisements, advertorials, editorial content, media kits, direct mail, websites and photo retouching. I moved the advertising sections online, creating a great added value incentive for our salespeople to use when leveraging new and existing clientele.
Next I implemented a program which brought all the department’s prepress in-house. Utilizing only the existing staff and a modest investment in software we cut the department’s expenses by 78%.
During the same time period I worked at Hachette I also instructed classes one day a week, over a span of four years, at the Parsons School of Design in Greenwich Village, New York City. The classes focused on Graphic Design and Desktop Publishing.
In 2009 Hachette sold off their titles and I have been working freelance ever since. Recent projects include two start up magazine projects, content managed websites, a weekly newspaper, and several cartoon/illustration assignments.
I am always interested in exploring new opportunities and putting my extensive skill set to good use. Feel free to contact me via the links below:
